How to apply:
12 week cooking program in the Living Rock industrial kitchen that encourages newcomer youth to participate in civil engagement by making cultural food to be shared in the Living Rock Weekend Program. Youth cook, eat together, serve youth in the Weekend Program and participate in clean-up. Cooking includes vegetarian and halal food. There are incentives for participation, such as Rock Bucks and volunteer hours.

Who can access this service?: People living with diabetes, and their families, or those who are at increased risk of development of Diabetes.
How to apply:
Program provides learning opportunities that help participants develop skill and confidence in the kitchen, and learn about choice and preparation of diabetes friendly food. Topics include equipment handling, food preparation techniques, primers on healthy and vegetarian eating, and cost management in food preparation. Sessions run one Friday per month, for three Months.

A welcoming and safe community space offering food-based programs that bring people together to grow, cook, share, and advocate for good food. A partner site of Community Food Centres Canada (www.cfccanada.ca), which provides resources and support to partner organizations across Canada to create community food centres and empower communities to work toward a healthy and fair food system. Programs include: Community action training, after school program, language exchange drop-in (Arabic, Kurdish, and English), Global Roots lunch drop-in, advocacy office, family dinner, intercultural community kitchen, and Good Food low-cost market and café. Also a program site for Welcome Baby (Public Health Service) and Rolston Planning Team (Neighbourhood Action Plan).
